An item's ilvl is generally tied to the area level in which it dropped.The reason to use Larzuk is if you could only find a superior crystal sword, and if you want to be guaranteed 4 sockets. This is a gamble, since it can roll anywhere between 1 and the max number of sockets for that item's ilvl.
